Speech on Earth Day for Students

Dear teachers and students, thank you very much for assembling here to listen to me.

Today my speech will be about Earth Day and what we celebrate on it. Every 22nd of April we remember about the earth and the need to care for the environment.

The first Earth Day took place as early as 1970 and was the beginning of several events all dedicated to our only planet. Today, almost every country celebrated this day organizing marches, special speeches and recycling events-and many people take part to them.

Some might ask why we should celebrate the earth and the environment with a special day. I would answer that human beings completely depend on earth and its natural environment. We are born and made to live on our green planet and our destiny is to work and make life better for us and the earthly world. Humans have the responsibility to take care of animals, trees, all flora and fauna that live and breathe on earth. This event happens to remind us exactly how good we need to be to them.

When we celebrate our planet, we remember how much our life as humans depends on trees, plants and clean water. We breathe oxygen that is produced by plants and cultivate seeds to eat and make clothes from them-our full life is based on earth’s natural environment. It’s impossible to consider our life separately-what we have we owe it to our friendly planet.

If the earth is our friend then our deadliest enemy should be its air and ground pollution. Plastic pollutionthat kills marine life. Today most factories release polluting smoke into the environment reducing oxygen in the atmosphere. They also pollute rivers and the ocean with plastics that threaten to exterminate all marine life, fish and sea plants. Humans release tons of garbage into the environment without thinking how bad that is for they own life and prosperity. The situation is getting worse every day and we much act at once.

The celebration of Earth Day reminds us of what we can do about the planet. We are expected to care and preserve our earth and the natural environment by taking some drastic steps and measures. Must recycle our garbage and never release them into the ground, Must also take action and demand that our government also take some measures about pollution. Make sure that we educate all citizens to know their responsibility in keeping our planet clean and a friendly place to live.

Earth provides us with food to eat and a place to live and we must keep this place clean and friendly. In this speech, I am also making a statement on how important is to take part in all Earth day activities. Marchesand festivals in all big and small cities take place to raise awareness and inform on environmental issues. Every community should make a strong effort to educate its people on how important is to be a citizen with a conscience. One that cares for the environment, fights against pollution and recycles its unwanted things. One that recognizes what we owe to our Earth and how we must grateful for it every day of our lives.
