Short Speech on My Parents

First of all, I would like to welcome all the teachers and students for your attendance. As all of us already know that, our parents are the ones, who bring us to life and they play an integral role in our development by raising us, teaching us some very important lessons, which can’t be taught in any school or university. Although no speech can ever list all the contributions made by them in shaping our lives, this one is dedicated wholly to them and how we should try to give them what they deserve.

Friends, right from the moment you are born, both parents had made sacrifices in their own ways. They had spent their time by waking at odd hours during the night due to your loud cries, skipping their work to stay at home to look after you when you are sick and bringing you all sort of toys to keep you entertained. They shower the endless love and warmth for you by taking care of all your needs and bearing all the tantrums you may have had in your childhood.

At some times, they had to be strict and may also punish you, but believe me, that was all to teach you something important about life or discouraging you from choosing a dangerous or wrong path, which your little mind couldn’t have contemplated at that moment. They may have beaten you for showing disrespect to your elders or for skipping your school lunch, which is not wrong if you see it from their perspective.

It is also true that it is not possible for any of us to completely pay off whatever they had offered or contributed in our lives, but the least we could do is to give them due respect and comfort when we are grown up. My dear audience, not only it is our responsibility to look after them when they grow old, it is also required to follow the lessons and principles, which they had to inculcate in us, to make us a better person.

Finally, I would like to thank all of you for showing patience and listening to my speech.
