Steam engine trains were common in the early history of trains. In today’s world, diesel and electric driven trains are more commonly used across the world.

In this world, lots of people travel by train.   At first, the train was run by the steam with incredible speed. On the other hand, the modern train has come in early 1800. As a result, the modern train can able to carry thousands of passengers and the freight train can able to carry a substantial amount of the world’s goods.

Uses of train

There are different types of rail for different purposes. It has a combination of one or more locomotives and attached railroad cars. Passengers train are only for people who travel one place from another. The high-speed train is also for passenger travel. On the other hand, freight trains are for traveling post offices like passengers train or mail trains.

The trains can be classified may be of different types such as passenger train, Long distances train, short distances train, high-speed rail, intercity trains, regional trains, etc. Let’s take a look at the details.

Trains that are used for public transport are commonly called passenger trains. Passenger trains are considered a less expensive, efficient and popular means of public transport in most countries.

Trains that are used to carry commodities or goods [grains, wood, daily utility groceries, heavy equipment, metal, etc.] are called goods trains. Goods trains are considered a less expensive means of transport for their raw material and finished goods by many businesses.

Metro trains are used in many modern cities as a means of public transport. Traditionally metro trains were created to run in underground tunnels, and outside the cities or in certain areas they also run on specially erected overhead bridges.

High-speed trains are typically created and used for fast means of public transport across long distances, typically between far off cities. High-speed trains operate at speeds higher than 200 km/hr.

Trains are one of the commonest and most useful forms of public & goods transport in today’s world. As a result, trains are very helpful for a country and people. For the train, it is easy to reduce traffic jam from a country. Finally, people can travel easily for the train.

The history of the train dates back to ancient Greece in the sixth century. Previously, there were vehicles that were made with wheels to transport goods and this method of transportation provided the idea to make advancements in that area. Wooden rails were first made before the conception of the metal rails.

In 1769, a Scottish inventor and engineer, James Watt improved the steam engine and incorporated it into the use of trains thereby creating the first steam powered engine for a train. Later, a combustion engine was developed to run the train which proved to also be a more effective means. Ultimately, the electrically powered rail was innovated. It is the fastest mode for rail transport now.

There are many stations in which a person can acquire a ticket to get to a destination of choice going by travel on a train. They all vary in terms of speed and routes. Some of the choices of trains to use are:

• Intercity trains: This mode of travel just operates for short distances in a city.
• Rapid transit: This form of transport is normally established underground. They are separated from outside activities to minimize risks.
• Train stations: The train station is the facility made for intending passengers to board or come out of a train. The stations normally vary depending on the city that it is located. All train stations have at least one general building that provides all the wants of the passengers at the station.
