Special Weeds in Cropped Areas – Kan’s or Tiger Grass

Kan’s or Tiger Grass:

Perennial grass reproduces rapidly by means of high viability seeds and rhizome tillers profusely and is very hardy, roots normally 2 to 4 m deep.

Control:

1. Hand collection of rhizomes.
2. Summer cultivation.
3. Growing of green manure crop like Sannahemp.

Herbicides:

 2.4-D, 2.4,5-T, Dalapon and Simazine are most effective at seedling stage @ 10 to 12 kg a.i. /ha in 400 – 500 lit water.
