Properties and Function of Herbicide – Formulations and Calcium Cyanide

Formulations: (Sodium tetraborate):

Non selective soil sterilent

Dose:   400-600 kg/ha or 1-2 kg a.i. ft2.  It is slow acting chemical.  It is white, solid and water soluble, controls Convolvulus arvensis, Solanum spp.

Calcium Cyanide:

Having some degree of selectivity otherwise it is non selective herbicide.
           
Dose             :           20 to 500 kg/ ha.

Application     :           Pre-plant or pre-emergence.

Properties      :           It is solid, registered for use on fruit trees,Beans, lettuce, potato, tomato, peas and other Vegetables. Kills most annual weeds especially when they are young.
