Short Paragraph on Indian National Congress

The Indian National congress was formed in 1885. It was in fact the first really all-India organization. Indian political leaders had for sometime been thinking of such an organization.

The final shape of Indian National Congress was given by A.O. Hume, a former civilian. Womesh Chunder Bonnerjee, a Bengali lawyer, was made its first President.

The first meeting of the Indian National congress was held at Bombay in December 1885. Its principal aim was the political and economic progress of the country.

That the National congress was an all-India organization was proved by the fact that over 400 delegates from different regions of the country were elected for its second session in 1886 which was held in Calcutta. With the founding of the Indian National Congress, India’s national struggle took a new turn.
