My Favourite Food – Short Essay

My favourite food is home cooked food. I enjoy cooking food myself, but nothing can top the flavoursome food my mother cooks. I never miss a chance to eat Indian cuisines like Biryani, Masala Dosa, Pav bhaji and vegetarian thali. My mother is an expert at these and she taught me how to cook.

My favourite food list keeps expanding each year. I have recently begun frequenting restaurants on my own. I wouldn’t consider myself someone who eats out regularly, but I try to treat myself to a different cuisine once a month. I have developed a fondness for Thai food recently. A steaming pot of Pad Thai soup is mouth-watering.

I have my lazy days too where I experiment with Ramen noodles. It is one of my favourite food items because it is so flexible. It can be cooked in any way I like. I have even tried to bake it at some point. My roommate still teases me about it. My long-time favourite food is pizza. The perfect blend of cheese and olives with various toppings is my ultimate comfort food.

My favourite breakfast food is toasted waffles with strawberries and cream. A tall glass of fruit smoothie is the cherry on top. On my off days, I try to cook one of my favourite dishes each weekend. Because of this, I have been able to perfect some of the dishes. Cooking comes in handy ever since I moved out of my parent’s house. I prepare my favourite dishes by consulting Youtube or mom.

Previously it seemed like a mountain of a task to cook food. Indian food requires a significant amount of prep time and ingredients. But in the end, the prepared dish is worth the effort. It is no wonder the Indian cuisine has spread to other continents and grows in popularity there. The unique blend of spices and grains with vegetables produces a vast range of flavours which are rarely found in Europe. Moreover, the variety available in sweet dishes is unlike any other in the Asian subcontinent. It is for this reason Indian food is my favourite food. Now if you’ll excuse me the alluring aroma of Palak paneer beckons me.
