What are the major types of land pollution?

Land pollution is anything that damages the quality of the land. It can come in many forms and can have a devastating impact on agriculture, biodiversity and human health. Here are three main types of land pollution.

1. Chemical waste: Agricultural chemicals (e.g. fertilizers and insecticides), metals and acids leaking from discarded batteries and other chemicals can pollute our soil.

2. Non biodegradable Solid waste: Non biodegradable waste such as plastics, aluminum cans and other human byproducts can pollute our land as well as being very unsightly. This type of land pollution can take thousands and even millions of years to biodegrade completely.

3. Nuclear waste: Nuclear power comes with the risk of an accident resulting in nuclear waste spillages. Nuclear waste also needs to be disposed of properly. If not, it can cause our land to become radioactive and this can have huge and absolutely devastating impacts on human, plant and animal life for many generations in the future.
