What are the disadvantages of Advertising?

Disadvantages of Advertising

1. Very often, a customer does not have full knowledge of the qualities of goods offered for sale. He is often tempted into buying what advertisers persuade him to believe to be the best product of its kind.

2. An advertiser knows how to make the right approach to the customer and influence his decision in favor of a particular commodity.

3. It is often found that goods of an inferior quality have a wider sale than superior products due to successful advertising.

4. A customer’s sense of vanity may be tickled in such a manner that he will feel inclined to buy that article though it may cost him a higher price.

5. If a consumer’s mind is in a state of indecision and he fails to make a choice either way a good advertiser knows how to exploit it to his advantage. Even when a definite choice has been made, he can overcome this bias and make him buy the thing that the advertiser suggests.
