Short Speech on Baisakhi

Baisakhi is one of the most important festivals in the Indian calendar. Good morning to respected teachers and fellow students. Today I am here to give a speech on Baisakhi. This festival is majorly celebrated in Punjab. Every year this festival comes in between 13-14 April.

This festival is celebrated during the time when rabi crop is ready to be harvested. On this day the tenth guru of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh, founded the Khalsa Panth Cult. This festival is also considered to be the beginning of the new calendar for Sikhs.

This festival is celebrated with lots of joy and happiness. The gurudwaras are decorated with lights, balloons and so on. People visit gurudwaras sit and sing traditional or holy anthems regarding Guru Gobind Singh, People volunteer as “sewa”, they also distribute food as “kada prasad”. Also in all around India, we can see people grouping together for Nagar kirtan. People of the different community also comes together and celebrate with Sikhs.

On this day families come together and enjoy everyone’s company. Many sweets and delicious foods are prepared for relatives and family members. Women’s come together form a group and enjoy the day by singing and performing gidda. This is the one of the traditional dance form performed by the Sikhs in every celebration.

Baisakhi is one of the important festivals. Majorly it is celebrated in the Sikh community but the happiness and enjoyment can be seen in all over India. School, colleges, offices remain closed. In different organisations and societies we can see people celebrating the festival in different ways.

The beauty comes with up when different societies and communities come together to celebrate. Everyone comes together as a family and make it more fun. At last of my speech, I want to say that we should also be a part of celebration taking place nearby us.

Thank you so much for hearing my speech and giving your crucial time.
