Short Essay on Rajendra Prasad

Rajendra Prasad is a huge name in Indian history as he was the first President of Independent India and served the country in a great way. He was a freedom fighter as well and was enforced to jail a couple of times too, but he didn’t get the name that individuals like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawahar Lal Nehru got. The only thing that the people of India know about him is that he was the first president of India.

He was born on 3rd December 1884 in Bengal and got educated from University of Calcutta. He became a lawyer by profession and earned very well from it. But later on, he decided to move towards freedom fight of India and supported Indian national congress.

While supporting Indian national congress and Mahatma Gandhi, he got enforced to jail twice. Once during the Salt Satyagraha and then again during the Quit India Movement.

He got elected as the first president of the constituent assembly of India, and when the constituent assembly of India was out in 1950, he served as the president of the country as well.

He was the only president of the country, who served as the president consecutively for ten years or more. He deserved to be the president because he made a lot of efforts to improve the educational system of India and asked the Nehru government to make various efforts to bring up the educational level of Indians.

He became a part of some literary works as well, and famous writers and literary greats applauded some of his works. He died at the age of 78 in 1963, but till then he had achieved a lot in his life as well as for his fellow Indians.

These were a few lines on the first President of India, Rajendra Prasad. He was a very calm person like Mahatma Gandhi, and he always followed Mahatma Gandhi’s footsteps. Though he never got known worldwide as a freedom fighter, he surely gets known by the name of India’s first president post it got independent.
