Short Essay on Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar

Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar was a great philosopher, writer, translator, reformer and a great philanthropist. He was born on the 26th of September, 1820 in West Bengal. And he gained a lot of respect and name of himself for all the social work that he did in his life.

He was known by the name Ishwar Chandra before, but he attained the title of Vidyasagar from Sanskrit college, Calcutta after he did a lot of good study in the Sanskrit language and philosophy as well. After the title, he started getting called as Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar.

He is known to be one of the greatest Bengalis of all time, and people of West Bengal admire him a lot and take him as an inspiration to become a great person like him. And the youth of Bengal is very well known about this great personality.

He was the first person who came out to help women. Women empowerment got promoted by him, and he may be the first person in the history to promote women empowerment. Nowadays, people are coming ahead for all the women, but the inspiration for all of them must be Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar.

He worked for all the women to empower them and it is noticeable from the fact that he was the first person to stand for widow remarriage act. Widows can marry anyone according to their choices nowadays, but people need to thank Vidyasagar for their work to empower women.

He also worked for a lot of Bengalis as well. The biggest works among all were that he reconstructed Bengali Language and Bengali alphabets which people of Bengal use even now.

These were a few important points on Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar who is known as a great philanthropist and social worker. He may not be known as a great freedom fighter, but he was the one who actually fought for the real freedom of Indians which was there in the society of Indian people.
