Short Essay on Cricket Match

If you are an Indian, and you say that you do not watch cricket, then you must be lying because 90% of Indians love cricket and those who don’t love cricket, has to watch cricket matches because their near or dear ones will not let them change the TV channel if there is a cricket match going on.

Elements of a cricket match

In an International cricket match, two teams each of 11 players play against each other; one gets called as the batting side and the other bowling side.

Batting side score runs against the bowling side which the bowling side has to score if they want to win the match and the batting side needs to defend the total they got.

Usually, the teams send their best batsman and their best bowlers to battle in the beginning for a good start in the match.

There are three umpires in the cricket match and a referee as well which gets called as cricket officials because their decisions get termed as the final decision in the game no matter whether it is correct or not.

Types of Cricket Matches

Various types of matches have evolved over the years

Test Match

Also known as first-class cricket, this match tests the real caliber of the players. Each match can go on up to five days. Each team plays two innings. There could also be day and night matches.

One Day Match

This became popular especially in the one day World cup series because of the shorter duration of the matches. The overs played would be around 50 by each team. That increased the excitement factor of the matches.

Twenty20 Match

This, a newer version where only 20 overs are played by each team, has been introduced to bring cricket in line with the more globally popular sports like Soccer.

A Cricket match is a mind-blowing contest, and some matches get so excited that people don’t even get time to blink their eyes.
