The criteria are as follows:

  • 2 and 3 wheelers (2/4 – stroke)that were manufactured on or before 31st March 2000 must emit only 4.5% of CO and 9000 PPM hydrocarbon

  • If your 2 and 3 wheelers (2 and 4 strokes) was manufactured after 31st March 2000 should have an emission of 3.5% of CO and 6000 PPM hydrocarbon and 3.5% of CO and 4500 PPM

  • 4 wheelers manufactured according to Pre Bharat Stage II Norms must emit only 3% of CO and 1500 PPM hydrocarbon

  • The emission limit for 4 wheelers manufactured according to Pre Bharat Stage II, Stage III, or any such norms is 0.5% of CO and 750 PPM of Hydrocarbon


When to Get PUC?

Every new vehicle that is purchased across India must get PUC done immediately. The PUC certificate serves as proof that your vehicle’s emission level is under control. The PUC certificate is valid for a year and it is advised to get a fresh PUC certificate every 6 months after getting your vehicle checked.


Where to Get a PUC Certificate?

The authorized petrol pump stations across India conduct the PUC test for vehicles. After the successful completion of the test, A certified auto emission center grants the PUC certificate. The certified emission center has a computerized facility to check a vehicle.


On failing to provide a valid PUC certificate when asked by the traffic police, the vehicle owner will have to pay the penalty of Rs 1,000 for the first offense. However, Rs 2,000 will be paid as a fine after the first offense to the Traffic Police officials.

  2. Personal Unlock Code: Personal Unlock Code is a secure facility designed to protect the SIM card and its data in mobile phones. The Personal Unlock Code is required by any user after their sim card gets blocked due to whatever reasons. The Personal Unlock Code or PUC is provided by the network operator of a SIM Card and is an 8 digit code.
