Save girl child is a motto that we should all take to heart. Girls are currently at risk from a variety of ills in the world, and it is crucial to take action to help them. Female rates of literacy are lower than rates of literacy for males, for instance, which limits the number and type of opportunities that girls can take advantage of.
In addition, girls are at risk from gendered problems such as child marriage, domestic violence and sexist stigmas that see women and girls as inferior to men and boys.
We can all do our bit to help to improve the lives of girl children. We can do a variety of things, such as pro-actively setting up an education initiative for girls, or by donating money to an NGO that provides help to girl children. Those of us who are female ourselves can ensure that we are strong role models for your girls, encouraging them to be whomever they want to be.
