Autobiography of a Tree – Short Essay

Hi. I am a tree. But I am not just an ordinary tree. I am a very old tree. And I will tell you now about my life.

I am a plant. I can live very long. My species exist in the world for over 300 million years. I am very important in maintaining the ecosystem, especially in reducing erosion and moderating the climate. I am reducing the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. I am a habitat for many animal species.

Early life: I was born in the early forties of the 20th century in Andhra Pradesh. My name is red sanders, or in Latin, Pterocarpus santalinus. I am around 7 meters tall and I have leaves that are 8 cm long. My fruit is called the pod. My wood has a red color. People appreciate me a lot because of my beauty and my wood is very expensive.

Later life: Today I am 80 years old tree. I stand proudly in the Chittoor District, in the place where I was born. I am very happy here. Today people classified me as a near threatened species. They protect me. I survived many beautiful decades and I have seen many generations passing by. I have a lot of stories to tell. If I could only speak…
