What am I? I am a computer. I am an electronic device that process input and give out output based on instructions or command given to me.
As a computer, I have been very useful to human beings since my inception. I followed a specific set of operations called program which makes me perform various tasks.
Since my inception I have helped human beings to carry out their work accurately, efficiently and very fast than the conventional methods.
Presently I am in my fourth generation, my generations go thus:
- First generation
I was made with mechanical /electromechanical
- Second generation
I was made with a vacuum tube.
- Third generation
I was made with discrete transistors.
- Fourth generation
I was made with integrated circuits.
Types.
Based on uses.
- Analog
By 1872
- Digital computer.
By 1938
- Hybrid Computer.
By 1961
Based on sizes.
- Microcomputer.
It is a small relatively inexpensive computer popular in the 1970’s and 1980’s
It was developed in the 1960’s
- Mainframe computers.
This is computer use mainly by large organizations because of bulky data they have the ability to do.
Parts.
I was divided into two parts, which are:
- Input devices
This part consists of a keyboard, mouse, joystick etc.
- Output devices
Screen, printer, speaker etc.
Apart from the above classifications, my main body parts are
- Monitor
- The central processing unit (CPU)
- Keyboard and mouse.
Usefulness.
- I have the ability to store data. I have two memory namely,
- ROM (read-only memory)
This is famously called the hard drive or hard disk of me, it helps to store data that was inputted in me permanently as long as it is not deleted.
- Ram (random-access memory)
This help to store data as well but only temporarily, it store data in form of cache, it help to access data or process that has been used before quickly.
- I solve calculations effectively and efficiently.
- I am used for multi-tasking. I.e. ability to carry out one or more processes at once.
- I am used to playing games, music and watch films.
- For graphic design, video production etc.
I am a computer, I am indispensable!
