Autobiography of a Chair – Short Essay

I am an easy chair. My life is just like my name, easy. I am writing my autobiography to tell you all about my tedious and easy life.

I was very happy with my family members, back in the furniture shop. There, I was very respected. They used to keep me covered in the plastic so that dust doesn’t cover me. I was kept with precision and care. I was the best chair in the shop. Everyone used to come to me and stop to admire my beauty. Some people even said that the shop owner should charge money to even see me. I loved when people used to look at me. I used to boast and brag about my rich design and texture. Nobody used to buy me because of my expensive price. Everyone used to just pass away from me.

I was really enjoying this. It made me happy that nobody could buy me and I would stay with my family forever. The shopkeeper had several servants and one of them was kept exclusively for me. He used to clean me every day and keep me safely on the display. I used to feel very royal. My family members were also very exclusive and we had conquered a whole section in our shop.

But, then one day, entered a rich family in the shop. Their eyes directly fell on me. They fell in love with me. The woman wanted to gift me to his father who was very old and had to use an easy chair to sit and relax. She just looked at the price tag, had a grin and paid the amount! As simple as that! I was not able to believe what just happened! I had to part my family! They all bid me their goodbyes. I saw a broad smile on the shopkeepers face. He had got his money.

I went away with the family. Their house was a huge one! They gifted me to their grandfather and he sat on me. He was a fat man and I went nuts when he sat upon me. He completely implanted himself upon me and, I could hear the sharp voice coming down from my bones. But, I had to endure.

I am writing this autobiography, while that fat man is sitting upon me, sipping a cup of coffee. Life is so boring and tedious.
