Kerala govt. has launched Gau Samridhi Plus Scheme to provide insurance coverage to the dairy farmers. This is a govt. subsidized scheme in order to ensure that farmers can get coverage at low premium rates. All the farmers who belongs to the general category will get 50% subsidy on premiums while those belonging to scheduled caste (SC) or scheduled tribe (ST) category would get 70% subsidy on premium.
Insurance coverage policy under Gau Samridhi Plus scheme is available in 2 versions – first is for 1 year and second is for 3 years. Now cattles and owners of these cows will get insurance at less premium rates. Animal Husbandry Department is going to implement this scheme across the state.

Kerala Gau Samridhi Plus Scheme
The Gau Samridhi Plus Scheme has been started in the Kerala state to provide insurance coverage to cattle and their owners. This scheme aims to provide govt. subsidy on premium rates for the insurance of 1 year and 3 years. The insurance premium on 1 year insurance policy is 2.8% of the total price of the livestock while for insurance policy of 3 years, premium amount is 6.54% of the total price of the livestock. Subsidy will be given to 50% of the premium amount for the general category and 70% for the SC / ST category.
For general category, govt. will provide 1 year insurance cover at a premium amount of Rs. 700/- per year and 3 year insurance cover at Rs. 1635 for three years. For SC / ST category, govt. will provide insurance at a premium rate of Rs. 420 for 1 year and Rs. 981 for 3 years. The cow with a value of more than Rs. 50,000 has additional policy facility.
This scheme will also cover accidental death insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh for farmers. For this accidental insurance, the farmer needs to pay Rs. 42 for a year and Rs. 114 for 3 years.

This Kerala Gau Plus project will be implemented through the online portal of Animal Husbandary Department. All the dairy farmers will get claim (remuneration) amount directly into their bank accounts. The state government has allocated Rs 5 crore for this project.

സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് കന്നുകാലികള്‍ക്കും ഉടമകള്‍ക്കും ഇന്‍ഷൂറന്‍സ് പരിരക്ഷ ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തുന്ന ‘ ഗോ സമൃദ്ധി പ്ലസ് ‘പദ്ധതിക്ക് തുടക്കമായി. സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ സബ്സിഡിയോടെ കുറഞ്ഞ പ്രീമിയം നിരക്കില്‍ ഇന്‍ഷൂറന്‍സ് പരിരക്ഷ ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തുന്നതാണ് പദ്ധതി. ഒരു വർഷം, മൂന്ന് വർഷം എന്നീ കാലയളവുകളിലേക്ക് പദ്ധതി പ്രകാരം ഇൻഷൂറൻസ് പരിരക്ഷ ലഭ്യമാണ്. ഒരു വർഷത്തേക്ക് കന്നുകാലി വിലയുടെ 2.8%വും മൂന്നു വർഷത്തേക്ക് 6.54%വും പ്രീമിയം തുക അടച്ചാല്‍ മതി. ജനറൽ വിഭാഗത്തിന് പ്രീമിയം തുകയുടെ 50%വും എസ്.സി/എസ്.ടി വിഭാഗത്തിന് 70%വും സബ് സിഡി നൽകും. ജനറൽ വിഭാഗത്തിന് അൻപതിനായിരം രൂപ വിലയുള്ള പശുവിന് ഒരു വർഷത്തേക്കായി 700 രൂപയും മൂന്നുവർഷത്തേക്കായി 1635 രൂപയും പ്രീമിയം നൽകിയാൽ മതി. എസ്.സി/എസ്.ടി വിഭാഗത്തിന് ഇതേ നിരക്കിൽ യഥാക്രമം 420 രൂപയും 981 രൂപയും പ്രീമിയമായി നൽകണം. അൻപതിനായിരം രൂപയിൽ കൂടുതൽ വിലയുളള പശുവിന് അഡീഷണൽ പോളിസി സൗകര്യവുമുണ്ട്.
പദ്ധതി അനുസരിച്ച് കർഷകനും 2 ലക്ഷം രൂപയുടെ അപകട മരണ ഇൻഷൂറൻസ് പരിരക്ഷ ലഭിക്കും. ഒരു വർഷത്തേക്ക് 42 രൂപയും മൂന്ന് വർഷത്തേക്ക് 114 രൂപയും മാത്രം കർഷകൻ ഇതിനായി നൽകിയാൽ മതി. മൃഗസംരക്ഷണ വകുപ്പിന്റെ ഓൺലൈൻ പോർട്ടൽ വഴിയാണ് പദ്ധതി നടപ്പിലാക്കുക. സമയബന്ധിതമായി നഷ്ടപരിഹാര തുക (ക്ലെയിം) കർഷകന്റെ ബാങ്ക് എക്കൗണ്ടിലേക്ക് നൽകും. ക്ഷീരകർഷകരെ പൂർണ്ണമായും ‘ജിയോ മാപ്പിംഗ് ‘ ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നതും ഈ പദ്ധതിയുടെ പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്. സംസ്ഥാന സർക്കാർ 5 കോടി രൂപയാണ് പദ്ധതിക്കായി വകയിരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.
