Measures of Extent of Soil Degradation
1. Rationalizing Price Policy:
Resources like water and electricity have to be priced more realistically to avoid their indiscriminate use. Over use of water adversely affects yield & soil. Similarly price support policy for crops also needs a rebook to avoid concentration of resources in a few crops thereby leading to imbalances in food production.
2. Even Distribution of Water:
It is very uneven across the geographical regions as well as across the different regions of canal.
3. Water Management of Water:
Proper water management techniques are promoted to save water.
4. Promoting Organic Farming:
A suitable incentive scheme to promote the practice of organic farming, which improves productivity as well as health and environment friendly, will go long way to establish sustainable agriculture.
